Impact Goals

Our Impact Goals are tracked using the IRIS+ Program, the international gold-standard for measuring, managing, and optimizing impact. They guide everything we do to ensure every action we take brings us a step closer to a more equitable and empowered community.

  1. 📚 Improve Food Literacy
EATucation utilises Food Literacy to explore a wealth of related subjects and the social benefits they deliver. EATucation improves the food literacy of young people by increasing the number of hours of food education they receive while in education, by ensuring this food education is research-based, and provides a clear learning pathway from Early Childhood Education to NCEA and into the workforce. EATucation will improve students' food literacy as measured by our Food Literacy Framework by 10% per year of engagement with the EATucation program.

  2. ⚖️ Improve Equitable Access to Education and Learning for All
EATucation will ensure all students have equitable access to quality education and account for gender disparities in educational outcomes, improve data and evidence on different equity dimensions and support the needs of students with disabilities and those from disadvantaged populations. EATucation will increase the amount of evidence-based food education students receive in a school year by 30% over the first 3 years of the EATucation program and will improve the average test scores within a unit of teaching by 25%.

  3. 🐣 Improve Early Childhood Care and Education
EATucation's learning resources are designed to ensure every child aged 0-6 has the best possible start in life. Early childhood food education creates opportunities for protective, supportive and nurturing environments and increases the likelihood of improving children's developmental, health, educational, and economic outcomes later in life. EATucation will increase the amount of evidence-based food education students receive in a school year by 30% over the first 3 years of the EATucation program. It will also increase the number of students developmentally on track for their age by 25% per learning unit.

  4. ♻️ Enhance Environmental Awareness
EATucation uses food literacy as a lens to explore our environmental impact and connection to the natural world. By understanding how the environment supports us and how we, in turn, impact it, students can develop a greater environmental awareness and make more informed choices. EATucation will improve students' environmental awareness as measured by our Food Literacy Framework by 10% per year of engagement with the EATucation program.

  5. 📊 Improve Data for Health Systems Policy and Decision-Making
EATucation's data supports improved decision-making throughout the health system, from providers to policymakers to researchers, by streamlining data collection, ensuring data is shared appropriately, and using it to better coordinate healthcare delivery and research. EATucation will increase the amount of preventative healthcare education students receive in a school year by 30% over the first three years of the EATucation program. EATucation will develop a robust data set to measure levels of food literacy across Aotearoa that will provide value to a range of organisations and programs.

  6. 👨‍🍳 Improve The Successful Transition of Youth Into the Workforce and Society
EATucation will prepare youth for successful transitions into the workforce and society by developing their employability skills, supporting their progression from school to work, and reducing barriers to their labour market entry. EATucation will increase the visibility of food-related industries by 50% in our secondary school program over the first 3 years of the EATucation program. EATucation will conduct surveys of graduating students and their teachers to assess and track the percentage of students interested in or intending to pursue a food-related career. Based on initial data, EATucation will set goals for this metric within 3 years of releasing our NCEA program after consultation with educators and industry representatives.
